The Municipal Region of Halton received a Bronze rating in January 2014, becoming the first regional municipality in Canada to be E3 Fleet rated.
Congratulations to the Municipal Region of Halton, which received a Bronze rating in January 2014, becoming the first regional municipality in Canada to be E3 Fleet rated.
Over the past several years, staff at Halton have worked hard to incorporate best practices into Halton's fleet management. To minimize the negative impact of emissions from its fleet, Halton has developed policies and programs such as an Anti-Idling Policy, an Equipment Use and Procurement Policy, and a Smart Commute program for staff. In addition, environmental practices have been incorporated into vehicle operations, maintenance, and end-of-life vehicle management.
Greening the fleet is a goal in Halton's Corporate Sustainability action Plan, as well as The Citizen's Priorities: Halton Region's 2011-2014 Action Plan, demonstrating Halton's commitment to sustainability at all levels.

The Business Case for Alternative Fuels and Vehicles in Your Fleet posted on 3:30 PM, September 28, 2012
At a recent workshop at TRUXPO, Jim Vanderwal and Mengo McCall provided presentations on the business case for alternative vehicles and fuels.
Welcome to E3 FLEET — Canada’s first and only national program dedicated to green performance by fleets of vehicles.
Are you looking to improve fuel efficiency in your fleet? Reduce emissions? Introduce new fuels or technologies? No matter the nature of your business or size of your fleet, E3 Fleet is for you.
Every public and private sector fleet that joins E3 Fleet is eligible for two important member services. The first is E3 Fleet Review, a comprehensive, custom assessment of your fleet’s green performance that identifies opportunities for improvement. The second is an E3 Fleet Rating service, which awards high performing fleets a mark of excellence (Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze rating) following a points-based review and a third-party audit.
Take a few minutes to learn about the benefits of E3 Fleet membership. Then sign up online and join your colleagues in progressive fleets across the country.
Launched by the non-profit Fraser Basin Council just five years ago with 17 Charter fleets, the E3 Fleet program today boasts 120 member fleets and over 50,000 vehicles.
OUR RATED FLEETS
There are now eight E3 rated fleets in Canada — three Silver, five Gold — and more to come. Behind each honour are impressive accomplishments, and committed people.
Take a look at the different steps fleet managers have taken to put together the country’s most progressive fleets. Read more.
