ABOUT PLUG-INS

About Plug-ins

Two types of vehicles are being introduced into fleets through the Plug in BC initiative.

Battery electric vehicles (BEV) or all-electric vehicles are powered solely by a large battery that is recharged by plugging into an electrical power source (120V or 240V household outlets, or at a DC fast-charging station).

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHV or PHEV) are powered by both a plug-in rechargeable battery and by an internal combustion gasoline engine, which can extend the range of the vehicle between charges.
