Fleet Review Overview

What is Fleet Review?

E3 Fleet Review is an independent review of a fleet’s performance, offering fleet managers an analysis of key performance indicators and opportunities for improvement.

The review is based on data the fleet tracks and compiles, which is analyzed by an approved E3 Fleet reviewer using custom software. Following the review, the fleet receives a set of custom data reports, along with suggested opportunities for improvement. These reports are confidential between the E3 Fleet program and the fleet under review. For details, see Steps in a Review.

Until now, it would have been costly to arrange such a service, but E3 Fleet is structured to make Fleet Review practical and affordable. SIGN UP HERE.

Components of a Review

There are three levels of Fleet Review. A fleet must complete a Level I review to be eligible to apply for an E3 Fleet Rating audit. Levels II and III of a review are not mandatory to qualify for the audit, but are strongly encouraged.

Level I: Operational Profile

This report examines key performance indicators such as fuel use and efficiency, distance travelled, greenhouse gas emissions, and vehicle use. These measures help in assessing a need for changes to fleet vehicles, operations or maintenance practices.

Here is a sample report extract on fuel use.

Level II: Fleet Asset Profile

This report summarizes a net present value of a fleet, average age of fleet vehicles, vehicle replacement schedule and exceptions, and the impact on fuel efficiency and emissions by replacement with best in class vehicles. A capital budget forecast is generated for consideration.

Level III: Fleet Asset Management Profile

Asset management is best described as maximizing return on a capital investment. For a fleet, the return is increased profit, improved service, increased availability, optimized life cycles and reduced emissions.

This report details operating costs, downtime and availability of fleet vehicles. With these indicators, the goal is to minimize downtime (through reactive and preventative maintenance) and minimize operating costs.

E3 Fleet Partners

The E3 Fleet program reflects the commitment and expertise of many people, including some of the country’s most innovative fleet managers. All have a common passion – to see Canada’s fleets take a cleaner, green road to the future.

The Fraser Basin Council launched E3 Fleet in 2006 in cooperation with Climate Change Central (Alberta) and Fleet Challenge. Since October 2016, the program has been managed by Fleet Challenge Inc.

The E3 Fleet Charter members were also pivotal to its success: Auto-Gas Propane, BC Hydro, BC Ministry of Environment, City of Coquitlam, Corporation of Delta, Enbridge, City of Hamilton, Hydro One, City of Kelowna, Township of Langley, District of Maple Ridge, City of North Vancouver, Novex Couriers, City of Prince George, District of Saanich, University of BC and Municipality of Whistler. We’ve enjoyed the journey so far, and it’s only just begun. Join us!
